Experience the Sacred Paro Tshechu

The Paro Tshechu is one of Bhutan's most vibrant and sacred festivals, held annually at the historic Rinpung Dzong in Paro valley. This five-day celebration honors Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), the 8th-century master who brought Buddhism to Bhutan.

The festival features mesmerizing Cham dances performed by monks and laypeople in elaborate masks and costumes. Each dance carries deep spiritual significance, reenacting mythical struggles between good and evil forces.

✨ The Thongdrel Unfurling

At dawn on the final day, a giant Thongdrel (sacred appliqué scroll) is unfurled inside the dzong. This massive thangka depicts Guru Rinpoche and is considered so sacred that simply seeing it is believed to bring liberation and cleanse sins.

This 11-day itinerary allows you to immerse yourself in the festival while exploring the cultural and natural highlights of Western and Central Bhutan.
